Oban 12 y.o. (Cask Strength) - Special Release 2021

Profile Single Malt
Body Whiskey

Oban distillery is a Whiskey distillery in the Scottish west coast port of Oban. Established in 1794, it was built before the town of the same name, which sprung up later in the surrounding craggy harbour. Oban distillery is owned by Diageo. It has only two pot stills, making it one of the smallest in Scotland, producing a Whiskey that has been described as having a "West Highland" flavour that falls between the dry, smoky style of the Scottish islands and the lighter, sweeter malts of the Highlands.

Tasting Notes

Product Notes
Comprised of freshly charred American oak casks, this shows cream, citrus, vanilla, and salted caramel on the nose, with new wood spices, dry chile flakes, and star anise. Sweet tangy orange on the palate initially, becoming more marmalade-like, before a sustained wave of pepper rides in with flavors of salted caramel and peanut brittle. The cask strength makes all the difference here, delivering a more gutsy Oban than the standard bottlings.
