G.D. Varja Clare JC Nebbiolo 2019

Profile Fruity
Region Piedmont
Body Light-medium

Claré J.C. is a Nebbiolo made according to a 1606 note from the House of Savoia jeweler Gian Battista Croce. This wine is a time-capsule into an era when Nebbiolo wines tasted fresher, lifted and slightly crisp. This is a wine for people who are young, brave at heart and curious about Piemonte forgotten past.

Tasting Notes

When to drink
Enjoy now or cellar for 1-2 years
On the nose
The nose opens with red fruits, vin-nouveau like aromatics, spices, gentle incense and a touch of very unique Nebbiolo stem
On the palate
Purposely bottled, carrying a tiny bit of fizz to give it that fresh edge. It feels like you are munching on a bowl of cherries. Just the right amount of grip on drinking it stand-alone or with food. A nice little bit of spice and development.
Product Notes
100% Nebbiolo. 25% of the fruit was gently put as a whole cluster at the bottom of the vat and topped up with crushed juice. After five days, wine was racked into a closed tank to finish fermentation off the skins for more gentle extraction—Malolactic in stainless steel.
