Origin: Barossa Valley, South Australia
Tasting Note: Produced from a blend of 98% Shiraz and 2% Viognier sourced from the Lyndoch, Rowland Flat, Moppa, Ebenezer and Light Pass districts of Barossa Valley. The wine was matured in a combination of new (50%) and older French barriques for a period of 30 months. Totally impenetrable the wine displays an inky black core with a very deep dark red black hue. Wafting through the nostrils are intoxicating aromas of dark plum, liquorice, blackberries and black cherries with hints of dried apricot, vanillin oak, fennel and light pepper ensuing. Rich, dense and voluptuous the palate puts on a stunning show of decadence with opulent dark plum, liquorice and dark chocolate flavours sitting over a back drop of toasty vanillin oak, traces of clove and fennel, faint honeysuckle, scorched earth and spicy pepper. Magnificent power and depth with the lavish fruit caressed by cashmere like tannins that nonetheless possess a sturdy underbelly and provide great structure. Luxurious and exceptionally long finish.
