Tenuta San Guido is named after the Saint Guido della Gherardesca who lived during the XI century. It is located on the Tyrrhenian coast, between Leghorn and Grosseto, in Maremma an area made famous by Italian Nobel prize winner Giosuè Carducci, and it stretches for 13 km from the sea to the hills. The wedding of Mario Incisa della Rocchetta and Clarice della Gherardesca on October 18th 1930 started it all. Mario Incisa's love of good wine made him plant Cabernet vines in 1942 for what was to become Sassicaia.

Tasting Notes

When to drink
Will reward careful cellaring for 10+ years
On the nose
Medium ruby-red, with cedar, wild red berry, menthol and pipe tobacco that mingle with fragrant blue flowers on the nose.
On the palate
The focused, elegantly structured palate is vibrant and savory, delivering cassis, orange zest, licorice and a hint of coffee framed in taut, polished tannins. Bright acidity keeps it energized and balanced.
Product Notes
The Cabernet Sauvignon, and especially the grapes from the older vines on the highest hills in Castiglioncello di Bolgheri, reached a perfect balance in terms of ripeness. Thanks to these conditions, Sassicaia celebrates its 50th vintage with the classic 2018 vintage.
